Arran White Stag 4th Release!

Arran White Stag

Yesterday the Arran White Stag panel voted on this year’s White Stag Release.

This year’s White Stag Panel chose between three samples. A 10 yo Bourbon, a 11 yo lightly peated Bourbon, and a 22 yo Bourbon. When the votes were counted the 10 yo Bourbon stood as the winner, this means this year’s release will be the first not being Sherry matured. The samples that this year’s Arran White Stag Panel voted for is a vatting of 4 Bourbon casks, all from 2008. It will hopefully be available in November this year, and around 850 bottles will be released.

It was also revealed that The Arran Whisky Master Distiller, James MacTaggart, believes Arran Whisky is best around 10 to 15 years having matured in an ex-Bourbon cask.

Taking the above into consideration it is interesting that all the previous White Stag Releases have been between 18-21 years old and have been Sherry cask matured.
